I maintained the gardens of the home Cliff May built for
Rea and Jackie Axline from the early 80's until the Axline's died and their estate was settled in 1999. The new owners have expanded the Axline - Cliff May house and have completely changed the landscape beyond recognition.
When I took over the landscape, I was given written instructions that this landscape was to be treated as a living work of art. I think the photos that I took over the years and post on this blog will attest to the fact that great attention was paid to incorporating the house into the landscape and into the natural topography of the Rancho Santa Fe site.
